Biology of Physical Activity Laboratory

BPA determines the biological and genetic pathways that regulate physical activity in humans. The lab uses both human and mouse models in both genetic and proteomic investigations.

BPA is housed in several sub-laboratories, including two wet laboratories fully outfitted with equipment for a wide-range of cellular and molecular techniques. Other sub-laboratories include a clean RNA procedure room dedicated to RNA extraction, an animal-testing lab with a GE Lunar Piximus small animal densitometer capable of monitoring the activity level of 150 mice at a time and an applied human exercise research lab with a “flex-space” mixed use space.
