Sue Ellen ’81 graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, minors in industrial engineering and math, and secondary teacher certification in math and psychology. She taught pre- algebra, algebra and geometry at Taylor High School in the Katy ISD. After relocating to New Braunfels, she spent 25 years as a math tutor in both the public and private setting. Sue Ellen tutored every grade level of math from first grade to college calculus and was a volunteer tutor in other disciplines in public schools. She was a mentor in the HOSTS (Helping One Student To Succeed) program and served on the executive boards of New Braunfels PTA at five different campuses for 15 years. Sue Ellen also served on the First United Methodist Day School Board and the Parent Advisory Council of the New Braunfels ISD, and was one of the founders of the New Braunfels ISD Education Foundation. Today she is active in the management of Southwest Border Partners, a real estate investment firm. Sue Ellen and her husband, Phil ’80, are active in the Association of Former Students, the 12th Man Foundation, and various charitable organizations.
