Cypress, Texas

Karen was born in Washington State but has been a Texan since age two. She is an Aggie by birthright since her father, class of ’47, completed his degree after serving in WWII. Although she attended Texas State University, receiving her degree in education in 1974, her Aggie pride was completed when her daughter, Kelli, graduated from A&M in 2006 with a degree in education. Karen received her Master’s in Education with a Reading Specialist Certificate from the University of Houston in 1977. She spent 10 years as a kindergarten/first grade teacher and assistant principal in Cy-Fair ISD in Houston. Karen and her husband, Steve, reside in Cypress, Texas. She enjoys traveling, Aggie sports and spending time with her grandchildren. She is very active in her church and volunteers for several non-profit organizations.
