Undergraduate Admissions Process


All undergraduate students (freshman, readmits and transfer students) are required to complete the admissions requirements set by the TAMU Office of Admissions before being accepted into one of CEHD’s degree programs.

Some programs may have additional requirements before you may be admitted. These requirements, if any, are listed on the department degree programs page and on the department admissions page.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS


Students applying to an undergraduate program must follow all department admissions requirements. Program faculty will determine the admission of an applicant to the specific program.

FRESHMAN


Freshman admissions, students with no previous college credit, must apply through Texas A&M’s Office of Admissions.

READMITS


Applications for readmission are reviewed and decided by each specific school and department. Contact the undergraduate advisor for the major in which you are applying to determine the readmission requirements.

TRANSFER


All transfer students are required to meet the full list of TAMU transfer admissions requirements set by the Office of Admissions in addition to the following school requirements:

    • Minimum 2.75 GPR on 24 hours of transferable coursework
    • MATH 1324, 1325, and two lab sciences specific to major complete at the time of application
    • Complete and submit all required materials by the application deadline for the semester which you are seeking admission.

Applicants are reviewed by committee and admitted on a competitive basis. Meeting the minimum requirements listed does not guarantee admission.

Change of Major


Current Texas A&M University students who want to change majors into a program in the Department of Educational Psychology, must meet all of the following requirements in order to be considered:

Interdisciplinary Studies, concentration in Special Education

  • Minimum overall GPR of 2.75
  • Completion of MATH 141, 142 and two 4-hour lab sciences (grade of C or higher)
  • Maximum of 70 completed hours at the time of application

Interdisciplinary Studies, concentration in Bilingual Education

  • Minimum overall GPR of 2.75
  • Completion of MATH 141, 142 and two 4-hour lab sciences (grade of C or higher)
  • Maximum of 70 completed hours at the time of application

University Studies, concentration in Child Professional Services

  • Minimum overall GPR of 2.0
  • Completion of MATH 141, 142 and two 4-hour lab sciences
  • Maximum of 70 completed hours at the time of application

Student classification (e.g., U1, U2), assessment of transcript and possibility of excessive hours are all taken into consideration.
