Live From The International Space Station: Human Health Risks Of Spaceflight
Spending time aboard the International Space Station poses challenges to human health and performance. On Thursday, November 29, astronaut Serena Auñón Chancellor, M.D., NASA physician astronaut and former flight surgeon, will join us to discuss living in the space environment.
The event includes a panel discussion and live downlink from the ISS, co-sponsored by the College of Education & Human Development and College of Medicine at Texas A&M. The event will take place on Nov. 29, from 1:30pm – 3pm in the Health Professions Education Building LL30, on the Health Science Center’s Bryan campus—and will be live-streamed from multiple sites across the state.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Susan A. Bloomfield, associate dean for research at the College of Education & Human Development, and comprised of former astronauts and space research faculty from across the university. Chancellor will answer pre-selected questions from the audience. There will be an opportunity to pose additional questions to the faculty panel both before and after the live downlink.
Live-streaming locations include:
- Rudder 601 – Texas A&M Main Campus
- Temple – MRB – 142-Conference Room
- Round Rock – AVERY – S318-Small Conference Room
- Houston – ALKEK – 214M-Small Conference Room
Questions for Chancellor must be submitted in advance by 5pm Monday, Nov. 26. Please email Stephanie Hilliard atSHilliard@medicine.tamhsc.edu including your name, student status (medical, undergraduate, graduate). If your question is selected for use during the live interview with Chancellor, you will be asked to attend the session to pose the question.
