Dr. Jeffrey Liew Appointed EPSY Department Head

Dr. Jeffrey Liew has been appointed as the new head of our Department of Educational Psychology (EPSY).

With nearly 20 years of experience as a faculty member in the department, including over two years as interim department head, Liew is excited to continue building on its strong foundation. “I am ready to work with our faculty, staff, and students along with our Dean’s Office to continue building our shared envisioned future for a flourishing department,” he said.

As department head, Liew says he plans to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where faculty, staff and students can thrive. His priorities include enhancing professional development, expanding academic programs and supporting innovative research. With initiatives like the new Human Development and Family Sciences undergraduate program and the Counseling and Assessment Clinic, Liew is committed to ensuring the department continues to meet the needs of students, faculty and the community. “I am honored to work alongside Dr. Liew and the EPSY faculty, staff and students as they build on the department’s strengths and shaping its future,” Dr. Michael A. de Miranda, Dean of the College of Education and Human Development, said.

In 2024, Liew was among the newest Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his contributions to psychology on social and emotional development.
