COLLEGE STATION – We are pleased to announce that Dr. Michael A. de Miranda has been appointed Dean of the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at Texas A&M University.

The Texas A&M Office of the Provost made the announcement on June 23.

As Dean of CEHD, Dr. de Miranda oversees four academic departments: Educational Administration & Human Resource Development, Educational Psychology, Kinesiology & Sport Management and Teaching, Learning & Culture.

Dr. de Miranda is a Professor, Claude H. Everett Jr. ’47 Endowed Chair, and previously served as the Head of TLAC. He joined the university in 2016 from Colorado State University, where he held a joint appointment in the College of Education and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has been serving as Interim Dean since September 1, 2021.

Dr. de Miranda’s research focuses on the development of young STEM teachers, specifically in learning, cognition, and instruction in engineering and technology education. His teaching areas are statistics, quantitative research design and analysis, program evaluation, engineering teaching methods, and engineering design.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside in education with an emphasis in educational psychology and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University, Long Beach.
