From CEHD to SEHD: Name Change Part of Reorganization Plan

Ahead of the 2022 Fall semester, the College of Education and Human Development changed its name to the School of Education and Human Development (SEHD). The redesignation is part of an academic realignment initiative at Texas A&M University.

SEHD’s Department of Health & Kinesiology also changed its name to the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management (KNSM), as the Division of Health Education moves to the School of Public Health this fall. The Dance Science bachelor of science degree program will also move, becoming a part of the new School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts.

Texas A&M President M. Katherine Banks approved this and other recommendations in the Path Forward Initiative in December 2021. The changes will become effective on September 1. Students who graduate in August will do so under their current academic designations.

SEHD is one of seven colleges at Texas A&M that were designated as schools to better reflect their unique, applied missions, including the School of Architecture, School of Dentistry, School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy and School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

The School of Education and Human Development was officially established in 1969. To learn more about its history, click here.
