CEHD Professor Named Dean-in-Residence at Research Association
COLLEGE STATION – We are pleased to announce Dr. Joyce Alexander was awarded the 2022-2023 Dean-in-Residence Education Research Policy Fellowship at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in Washington, DC.
Dr. Alexander is a Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology. From 2015-2021, she served as Dean of the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), working hard to garner student scholarships and research support.
AERA is a national research society that advances knowledge and processes in educational research. In this new role, Dr. Alexander will advise AERA on education research policy issues and programming. She will also lead the Consortium of University and Research Institutions, a national group of deans working to advance education research across the country.
Her 30 years of research include STEM, early childhood education and K-12 partnerships. Before joining CEHD, she was Executive Associate Dean and Educational Psychology Professor at Indiana University.
“I am honored to join AERA as a Dean-in-Residence,” she said. “I look forward to working with the AERA leadership team to advocate for educational research policy issues at the national level. I could not resist the opportunity to make a meaningful service contribution to the field and look forward to the work and a new opportunity to make a difference.”
Dr. Alexander begins her term October 1 and will serve through June 2023.
