CEHD Welcomes New Assistant Dean

The College of Education and Human Development has hired Suprena Bennett as its new Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration. Bennett, who started in May, is replacing former position holder Dr. Becky Carr.

Bennett is a Maryland native who brings over 25 years of higher education finance and administration experience to the college. Prior to arriving at Texas A&M, she worked at a number of private and state schools including: Johns Hopkins University, The University of Delaware, and most recently, The University of Maryland.

“I am very excited to be a part of this university and to help move the college forward,” Bennett said. “Because of my years of experience in multiple areas, I’ve been able to bring a good amount of knowledge with me to this position.”

Bennett said she was drawn to Texas A&M for many reasons.

“Texas A&M is one of the best universities in the South,” she said. “There are so many good things going on within the community and I’m looking forward to learning more about the campus and its traditions.”

Moving forward, Bennett said she is working closely with university administrators including Provost Watson and Dean Alexander, on policy information. She plans to help expand college resources in beneficial ways to promote student and faculty success.

“I think the biggest thing I hope to achieve is creating a new financial model for the college, making reserves, and creating new initiatives for the faculty,” she said.
