Slocum To Deliver Keynote Address At 2018 Dean’s Roundtable

Former Texas A&M head football coach and current special advisor to the TAMU president, R. C. Slocum will deliver the keynote address at the College of Education and Human Development’s 2018 Dean’s Roundtable on Friday, May 4 at the Thomas G. Hildebrand DVM ’56 Equine Complex in College Station.

R.C. Slocum was the architect of the most successful decade in the history of Texas A&M football finishing the 1990’s with 94 victories, the most by any Division I football program in the state of Texas in any decade at that time. Slocum is a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Texas A&M University Athletics Hall of Fame. He was inducted in the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in December of 2012.

A gentleman on and off the field, Slocum cared about his players and instilled life lessons such as handling adversity, responding in a positive manner, and never quitting.

“More important than the individual coaching records are the championships and accomplishments of the team,” Slocum said. “The true rewards in coaching are seeing these young men grow and mature into successful men and leaders in their communities.”

For the past 26 years, members of the Dean’s Roundtable have sought to elevate the work of those unsung heroes who through dedicated leadership and service to others, transform lives and enrich our world. Since 1991, benefactors have honored over 550 individuals who have been role models to their students and/or peers, mentors for new professionals, servant leaders in their communities, and have inspired others to reach for the stars. Through their generous contributions to honor these champions of tomorrow, they have provided scholarships to future teachers, coaches, community health educators, researchers and policy makers in education and human development.

Continue the tradition of honoring transformational leaders by joining the 2018 Dean’s Roundtable today. Click here for more information or contact Erin Kleinecke, Development Relations Coordinator, ekleinecke@tamu.edu, 979-845-5355. Sponsorships are due by March 2, 2018.
