Aggie Senior Works Towards Degree While Battling Cancer
Angel Trejo ‘26 dreamed of attending Texas A&M University since middle school. “A simple trip to this beautiful campus encouraged me to better myself both academically and as a person,” he said. Now a senior in Aggieland, he is one step closer to graduating with a degree in kinesiology and will not let any obstacle get in his way, including a fight against cancer.
Trejo was diagnosed with cancer during his junior year and needed to undergo intense chemotherapy. Despite his treatment, he completed 29 credit hours from his hospital bed. “My resilience and drive have guided me to continue studying despite my battles,” he said. Trejo also earned the William B. Roman, Jr. ’50 M.D. Endowed Scholarship to support his journey.
After graduation, Trejo plans to take a gap year to recover before pursuing his next goal of becoming a pediatric Doctor of Physical Therapy. He is grateful for everyone who has aided in his treatment and journey to graduation, including, “the amazing professors here at Texas A&M that have made my journey much easier!”
