Tennis Star Leading On and Off the Court
Sport Management major Mary Stoiana ’25 brings classroom lessons to the court while leading the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Women’s Tennis Team to new heights.
Stoiana learned tennis from her father at a young age and practiced with her brother, growing up with the dream of one day going pro. She said our Sport Management program drew her in because much of the coursework relates to what she does. “For example, I’m able to apply many of the concepts from one of my leadership classes to my real life, my goals and what I want to achieve,” Stoiana said. She hopes to use these lessons to set a good example for her teammates and classmates alike.
Stoiana’s studies and hard work are paying off in a big way. She is ranked number one in the nation for both singles and doubles, earned SEC Player of the Year honors two years in a row, NCAA Tournament MVP and helped lead the Aggie Women’s Tennis team to their first national championship while making it to the semifinals in singles play.
