Education Professor Prepares to Compete for National Teaching Award
Dr. Claire Katz will present in front of Texas A&M University students, colleagues and other guests as she prepares to compete for the prestigious 2024 Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching.
Katz will present the lecture she will use to compete for the award later this fall on the Baylor campus. Her presentation will share her experiences in the classroom, focusing on her work teaching philosophy to K-12 students. Her lecture will be on August 23 from 3 to 4 p.m. in Room 204E of Evans Library.
In November, Katz will represent Texas A&M and the College of Education and Human Development when she delivers her Cherry Award lecture at Baylor University. She is among three finalists Baylor selected from nearly 100 nominations.
The winner will receive a $250,000 prize and teach in residence at Baylor during an upcoming semester.
Katz joined Texas A&M in 2006 and has over 35 years of experience as an educator. In June, she was appointed head of CEHD’s Department of Teaching, Learning & Culture after serving as interim department head for a year.
