Texas A&M Offers Education Degree for Rio Grande Valley Students
MCALLEN, TEXAS (July 24, 2023) – This fall, The Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen (HECM) will offer students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education with certification in Middle Grades 4-8 Math/Science through the College of Education and Human Development.
Students who enroll in the Education program will receive classroom experience through student-teaching and in-person, online and hybrid courses from the HECM and the Texas A&M campus in College Station. The College of Education and Human Development also offers career fairs for students to meet recruiters across Texas, giving them a head start at finding a job after graduation. Dr. Gustavo Perez, an Instructional Assistant Professor who teaches Education courses at HECM, said the degree will benefit K-12 schools in the Rio Grande Valley by, “supporting underperforming subjects such as mathematics and science at critical stages in K-12 where students typically opt out of STEM career tracks in high school.”
CEHD also offers students at HECM the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development. To learn more, visit tx.ag/HRDMcAllen.
