Texas A&M Offers Human Resource Development Degree in the Rio Grande Valley
MCALLEN, TEXAS (July 24, 2023) – Beginning in the fall semester, The Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen (HECM) will be the only academic institution in the Rio Grande Valley to offer students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development (HRD).
Students who enroll in the HRD degree program will receive the human resources and leadership skills needed to succeed in the public and private sector through in-person, online and hybrid courses taught by College of Education and Human Development faculty at HECM and the Texas A&M campus in College Station.
Those students can also make a difference in the Rio Grande Valley community while gaining hands-on experience through the program’s required internship. Dr. Paula Yoder, Clinical Assistant Professor who teaches courses in HRD and brings 20+ years of education experience to the McAllen campus, says the program has built relationships with local government leaders, school districts and businesses like H-E-B and Valero, who seek Aggie students interested in an internship.
