Dr. Irby Inducted As ISDDE Fellow
Dr. Beverly Irby was inducted as a fellow into the International Society for Design and Development in Education (ISDDE) Monday at the organization’s annual meeting in Utrecht, Amsterdam. The organization is a select group of scholars from across the world dedicated to raising the quality in design of educational processes and materials.
The ISSDE was formed to help this group work effectively as a coherent professional design and development community. The goals of the society are to improve the design and development process, build a design community, and increase our impact on educational practice.
“I am truly honored to have been selected as a fellow among such prestigious individuals and scholars,” Dr. Irby said. “This honors me, my colleagues with whom I have worked over the years, and also my students — former and present.”
ISSDE fellows are designer and project leaders who work together with other representatives from agencies and foundations that fund such work. Dr. Irby is currently the Co-Director of the Center for Research & Development in Dual Language & Literacy Acquisition (CRDLLA) in the Department of Educational Psychology and Director for the Education Leadership Research Center (ELRC) in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development.
“Researchers create knowledge and disseminate results,” she said. “I believe the type of research we produce at TAMU, and particularly in CEHD, increases our visibility and enhances and transforms the lives of thousands of individuals, particularly children, their teachers, administrators, and principals, across the world.”
